CBB Tournament Update

Thursday March 11 12:45 PM MST

A couple of lame efforts by Syracuse and Kansas cause backers to lose. The Orangemen had a much more difficult opponent in Georgetown, who as has been discussed here and other locations are as good as anyone, when their three main players all play well together. Syracuse defense looked like a high school 2-3 zone, never challenging the Hoyas, who shot blazing 69 percent in the second half. In the last 10 minutes, at least one player from the Orange hung his head briefly after every made basket by G-Town.

The might turn out to be a blessing for the ‘Cuse with Arinze Onuaku’s knee injury an unknown and not having to extend any more energy. Georgetown is 5-9 ATS off a cover, however is now 4-0 SU and ATS at neutral sites.

Kansas could have named the score against Texas Tech and did, an 80-68 non-cover as 17.5-point favorites. The Jayhawks built several double digit leads, but never showed a killer instinct, something coach Bill Self has been harping about all season long. Kansas is 3-9 ATS in last 12 spots as double digit favorite, having missed the last five in a row.

In checking out the forums, handicappers of all kinds of different sorts prefer Wake Forest, Northwestern and Texas A&M. (proceed with caution)
