Killer MLB System yields two plays

Last night turned out to be a bad night to be a sports bettor favoring the New York Yankees and Kansas City. The Yankees were bludgeoned 10-2 by the Los Angeles Angels and Toronto laid a 13-1 beat-down on the Royals. How might either team respond today?

One characteristic to look for is the money line number. The Yankees (58-34, +5.7 units) are a -185 ML favorite and Kansas City is -160 betting choice at online sports betting destinations. The Yankees number appears less justified (it almost always is), since the Angels Joel Pineiro (10-6, 3.95 ERA) has won seven games in a row (Halos have emerged victorious in eight straight Pineiro starts) and his teammates have rapped out 56 hits in their last five outings.

New York still has beaten L.A. 10 of last 15 at Yankees Stadium and manager Joe Girardi give the ball to Javier Vazquez (7-7, 4.45), who has a 1.80 ERA and WHIP of 0.900 in his last three starts, however is only 1-1, with his teammates making hardly a whimper at the plate totaling four runs in those starts.

Kansas City (40-53, -0.9) hasn’t lost a home series to Toronto in seven years and will send the reigning AL Cy Young winner Zack Greinke (5-9, 3.67) to keep the streak alive. Greinke hasn’t been nearly as effective in 2010, having difficulties locating his pitches, surrendering more walks and base hits this season.

This is an issue facing a Toronto batting order that is finding a number of empty places where fielders can’t catch the ball, with astonishing 65 base-knocks in previous five contests.

The Royals may lead baseball in batting average at .281, but they are 22nd in runs scored (4.3 RPG). Conversely, the Blue Jays have a .245 team batting average (27th), even with this hot hitting streak, yet are 11th in runs scored, thanks to leading the Majors in home runs. At least Grienke has kept the ball in the yard, having gone four starts since last being taken deep.

The Yankees and Royals both fit an incredibly profitable sports betting strategy that reads this way:

Play Against road underdogs with a money line of +150 or more, who are swinging the lumber, batting .315 or better over their last five games, playing on Wednesday.

The whole “hump day” thing is a bit of a mystery, however the results are not at 66-11, 85.7 percent the last 13 seasons. This super system has not been in play as much in recent years, nonetheless is opulent 16-3 since 2006. This sports wagering tip also comes with a certain comfort level, as the averaging winning margin over 77 plays is 2.8 runs per game.

Both of today’s contests are in afternoon action, thus if this makes sense, act expediently.

Step up to the dish and swing away on Thursday

With Tuesday’s plays, we stand at 85-46. Because of so many early games I couldn’t post this sooner, but we still have three solid systems to look at tonight on the diamond. The early and late Top Trends are both perfect, however we will count only the latter one for record keeping. You know who is to win the Dodgers vs. Angels battle, I think I do with Free Play. Good Luck

What I saw yesterday – I had the Yankees on the run line last night and though they won 6-5 in extra innings (I’m 4-13 past nine innings this season- OMG), I did not. Here is the stupid part. The D-Backs handed out THIRTEEN WALKS (previous MLB high this season was 11), New York had 10 hits and they still only scored six runs.

Free Baseball System -1) See the MLB systems below

Free Baseball Trend -2) Didn’t get to post on time, but Tampa Bay is now 20-0 in home games after scoring four runs or less three straight games over the last three seasons. Instead for this evening, consider the Mets who are 8-0 vs. AL teams scoring 4.7 or less runs a game in 2010.

Free Baseball Pick -3) Our Free picks haven’t been up to usual standards of late, thus I’ll take a trip to the dish with the Halos to sweep the Dodgers.

Major League Baseball Trendy Talk

It’s the final week of interleague play for this season and today four matchups in particular stand out on the baseball scorecard. We have a blend of hot pitchers, hot teams and a hot rivalry for this Tuesday.

St. Louis at Toronto 7:07 E

Call them what you will, lefties, port-siders or southpaws, whatever the name, Cardinals rookie lefty Jaime Garcia (6-3, 1.59 ERA) and the Blue Jays Brett Cecil (7-3, 3.58) have both been highly effective.

Garcia at 23 years old has overcome Tommy John surgery, which caused him to miss all of 2009, yet he’s been incredibly effective, not conceding more than two earned runs in his 13 starts this season. A lack of run support has left Garcia and St. Louis (38-31, -6.4 units) at just 6-7 overall this season, totaling three or fewer runs in seven of his trips to the mound.

Cecil suffered his first loss in five weeks at San Diego, being pounded for five runs in six innings. Prior to that, the Toronto left-hander has given up six total runs in five outings. Cecil and the Jays are is 12-4 vs. teams averaging 2.75 or less extra base hits per game.

With the total at 7.5, Garcia and the Redbirds are 10-0 UNDER in night games and merely 20-26 in June games over the last two seasons. The free-swinging Blue Jays (38-32, +10.2) are 6-10 against lefty starters this season (2.9 runs per game), but 12-3 OVER vs. a very good bullpen like Cards whose ERA is 3.33 or better this season.

San Diego at Tampa Bay 7:10 E

The Padres (40-29, +13.8) continue to be the biggest surprise in the National League, leading the NL West this far into the 2010 campaign, with exceptional pitching and timely hitting. San Diego leads the Major Leagues with 3.01 ERA and also in strikeouts (541). San Diego comes up big when it matters most, ranking 4th in ERA with runners in scoring position and 2nd overall with the same threat and there are two outs. The Friars have been at their best against quality competition with 14-4 mark playing against team with 54% to 62% win percentage this year.

Tampa Bay (42-27, +1.6) still have top notch record, but their 8-9 mark in June has dropped them out of first place in the AL East. Two reasons for this fall, the Rays starting pitchers have an ERA over 5.50 since the middle of May and players like B.J. Upton (.230 batting average) Carlos Pena (.200) are hurting their ability to score runs in the upper part of the batting order. The Rays are pedestrian 18-15 at Tropicana Field; however they are 36-12 in home games after scoring two runs or less.

Tampa Bay is smallish -132 ML home favorite largely because San Diego’s Mat Latos is 6-1 since May 7, with opposing hitters showing a sordid .197 batting average against the 6’6 right-hander.

The Pads are a pretty reliable 12-7 (+8.5 units) as a road underdog of +100 to +150 this season.
Atlanta at Chicago White Sox 8:10 E

Two of the hottest teams in the big leagues collide this evening in Chi-Town. The Chicago White Sox (34-34, -2.7 units) are back to .500 having won six straight and 10 of 11 and are within shouting distance of Minnesota in the AL Central at 5.5 games back. The biggest reason for Chicago’s turnaround is their continued dominance of the National League, with a 10-2 record this season and 34-14 since 2008.

Atlanta (42-28, +11.1) has been no slouch, with five consecutive conquests and winners of eight of last 10. The Braves have also thrived in interleague action with 7-2 mark in 2010. The Atlanta offense has been working in harmony with its pitchers. Atlanta leads the NL in scoring at 5.1 runs per game and when they score five or more runs in a contest, they are perfect 31-0. (42-0 dating back to last season)

A great pitching matchup of two terrific young hurlers, featuring Tommy Hanson (7-3, 3.27) vs. John Danks (6-5, 3.18). Hanson and the Braves are -113 ML road favorites and are 16-3 in the first half of the year since he arrived last season. Danks has not received a great deal of run support this campaign, but is 7-3 when throwing on five days rest (Sox record) and the Pale Hose are 22-8 as a home underdog of +100 to +125 since 2008.

L.A. Dodgers at L.A. Angels 10:05 E

Another chapter unfolds in the Freeway series, which moves south to Orange Country and Anaheim. The Angels (39-33, +5.1) are the hotter team having won six of nine, yet have lost ground in the AL West, with the Rangers reeling off eight wins in a row. The Halos swept the Dodgers (38-31, -0.3 units) nine days ago and are 17-4 versus NL West opponents over the last two seasons.

The Dodgers are having their typical issues with the AL, sporting 2-7 record and they are 29th in interleague play the last four years at 21-37. They will lean on Clayton Kershaw (7-3, 2.97) to end four game losing streak. The club with the blue hats is 36-17 after a loss by two runs or less (2-0 at Boston) and Kershaw and teammates are 9-0 against a team with a winning record this season.

The Angels are +112 home pooches and are 16-8 at the Big A as underdogs of +100 or higher. Ervin Santana (6-5, 3.91) and Halos are 9-1 (+10.8 units) as an underdog of +100 to +150. Manager Mike Scioscia’s club has taken 16 of previous 23 meetings; however the road team has won five straight series.

Baseball Series Wagering - Halos at Dodgers

In Southern California, it is simply known as the I-5 Freeway Series when these two teams meet annually in interleague action. The interstate is known for its sprawling expanse and both teams play has resembled this roadway. Early in the season both Los Angeles’ teams played like they were stuck in neutral playing very ordinary baseball. However recently, both are like a car that just cleared an accident area, where the road opens up and you can punch the accelerator and take out off.

The Dodgers (36-24, +5.8 units) have been the best team in baseball since May 9, posting a 23-7 record to storm back and recapture first place in the NL West. The Dodgers offense has been relatively steady most of the season and ranks fifth in the National League; however it has been its pitching that has been the difference-maker. They have held opposing teams to three runs or less in 18 of last 30 games and moved from 14th to 8th in ERA in the senior circuit, now at 3.95. Joe Torre’s club doesn’t exactly have a collection of Golden Glover’s; nevertheless they are 15-3 after two straight games where they committed zero errors this season.

The Angels (33-30, +2.3) lost key members in the offseason via free agency and were expected to contend, not control the AL West in 2010. They met the lower expectations set for them playing below .500 since the third game of the season and even their most thrilling moment of the campaign turned into calamity, when their best hitter Kendry Morales fractured his fibula jumping on home plate after smacking walk-off grand slam home run. Baseball experts on ESPN and MLB immediately wrote off the Halos, but they forgot about the manager, Mike Scioscia. Instead of folding, the Angels have persevered; winning 10 of last 13, to move into second place, 1.5 games behind Texas. They will start this series 15-3 in road games after six consecutive starts versus division rivals.

The Blue Crew will have a decided pitching edge in the opener, with Chad Billingsley (6-3, 3.80 ERA) meeting Joel Pineiro (4-6, 5.23). Billingsley is 4-1 with a 2.77 ERA in his last six starts and versus the Angels disharmonious bullpen (4.88, 1.664 WHIP), the home team is 10-1 against a horrible pen whose WHIP is 1.650 or worse over the last two seasons.

Pineiro snapped a personal three-game losing streak, but was far from impressive in permitting nine hits and four runs over six innings at Seattle in 9-4 triumph and is a disheveled 0-8 in interleague action the last two years. (Team's Record) It stands to reason for the Dodgers to be -164 money line favorite in the opener for online sports betting activists.

Game 1 Edge: Dodgers

If the term “opposites attract”, these teams are a perfect match. Like all cities that support two baseball organizations, when one team is home the other is on the road. That is the case here as the Dodgers are 8-2 on their longest homestand of the season with three games left. This in turn has the Angels away from the Big A for 14 road contests and they’ve held up well with 8-3 record thus far.

Interleague baseball seems to bring out the best and worst of each squad, as the team from Anaheim has one of the best records since 2007 with 39-18 (+17.6) mark. The team playing in Chavez Ravine is among the weakest in baseball at 21-30 (-11.75).

Scott Kazmir (5-5, 5.40) will take the ball for the Halos, having won three of his last four starts. He’s spotted his pitches better of late, but command is his worst enemy. After having a better than 2-to-1 ratio of strikes and walks for his career, he has 39 punch-outs and handed out 27 free passes this year. He’ll be relying on his club’s history that shows 19-7 interleague road record coming into the series.

John Ely (3-2, 3.00) might not throw in the high 90’s, however has displayed pitching acumen by throwing strikes and staying out of trouble. His pinpoint location has kept his team in games and the Dodgers are 6-2 when Ely starts.

Game 2 Edge: Dodgers

Jered Weaver (5-3, 3.20) seldom has two poor outings in a row and he was rocked for 12 hits and six runs his last time out in Oakland. Weaver is tied for the AL lead in K’s with 89 and is 3-2 with a 2.94 ERA in six career starts against the Dodgers. He’s been especially fond of Dodger Stadium with a 0.55 ERA in three outings and the Angels are 14-9 in day games this season.

Rookie Carlos Monasterios (3-0, 2.27) was forced into duty when Vicente Padilla went on disabled list and the Dodgers were really hurting for a fifth starter. Despite almost no experience at this level, Monasterious has thrown better than anyone could have imagined and his .215 batting average allowed is the lowest among first year pitchers with two or more starts in a season full of rookie pitchers making big introductions. The Dodgers began this series 23-10 at home.

Game 3 Edge: Angels

This should be an entertaining series with anything possible. The teams have split 12 encounters the last two seasons with the road club taking the series each time. The Dodgers are playing better baseball, have the better bullpen (Closer Jonathan Broxton has converted 15 straight save opportunities) and have been exceptional at home. If the games are tight, the team in the white uniforms is 15-6 in one run affairs, including 9-1 at home. Give the edge to the team from L.A., the one closer to Hollywood.

Series odds: Angels +140, Dodgers -180

3Daily Winners Pick: Dodgers

2010 Record – 3-6

Thursday Material

Our last get together produced a 2-1-1 outcome on Tuesday and we move ahead to today with 74-38 record here at 3DW. The Top Trend is an afternoon affair in the AL West. The Best System is 80.3 percent and is in our nation’s capital. Good Luck

What I thought today – Congrats to the Chicago Blackhawks ending their long Stanley Cup drought. Having spent more than one evening done on Rush Street in Chi-Town, I can only imagine how much fun it was last night. That leaves St. Louis and Los Angeles as the teams with the longest time without a title, as both came into the NHL in 1967.

On Twitter at: http://twitter.com/3Dailywinners

Free Baseball System -1) Play Against road underdogs with a money line of +100 or higher like Pittsburgh, with a weak on-base percentage of .310 or worse, against a sharp NL starting pitcher (WHIP 1.250 or less), with an overused bullpen that pitches more than 3.2 innings per game. In the last five years this system is 57-14, 80.3 percent.

Free Baseball Trend -2) The Halos are 15-2 in road games after six consecutive games versus division rivals over the last three seasons.

Free Basketball Pick -3) Nobody really hot at the moment, thus I'll share this. LLC members back the Celtics 11-5 tonight.

Big League Trendy Talk

While your parents taught you gossip is unhealthy, it is a positive when breaking down baseball betting. For those that participate in sports betting, having knowledge that can give you the edge, well it’s invaluable. Review the best information anywhere on four meaningful baseball contests tonight.

Florida at Philadelphia 7:05 E

Both these NL East clubs busted out scoring slumps last night as they totaled 18 runs on 26 hits, with Philadelphia (31-26, -5.4 units) winning 10-8. Because of tonight’s pitching matchup, they could both go right back into batting slumps. Roy Halladay (8-3, 2.03 ERA) goes for the Phillies and Josh Johnson (6-2, 2.10) for Florida (28-31, -5.5).

Sportsbooks have the Phillies as -160 money line home favorites and as good as Doc Halladay is, Johnson isn’t too shabby with the Marlins 41-18 when he starts and 13-5 when he is underdog of +150 or less. With the way the Phils have been hitting lately, Halladay probably feels like he’s back in Toronto and is 5-9 (-11.8 Units) against the ML after giving up two or less earned runs in his last two outings over the last two seasons. (Team's Record)

It’s not all doom and gloom for Philadelphia as they are 29-15 vs. an NL starting pitcher whose WHIP is 1.250 or better and the floundering Fish (four straight losses) are 1-11 versus a NL starting pitcher whose ERA is 3.50 or lower this season.

San Diego at N.Y. Mets 7:10 E

The Padres (34-24, +13.3) got a rare taste of their own medicine, falling 2-1 in extra innings to New York (31-27, +4.1). Even with last night’s defeat, San Diego is uncanny 9-3 when a total of four or less runs are scored this year. Mat Latos (5-4, 3.26) has the unfortunate luck of drawing another top line pitcher in tonight’s action. Latos has been matched against Halladay, Tim Hudson, Felix Hernandez, Josh Johnson, Yovani Gallardo and Jonathan Sanchez (three times) and has to look at Johan Santana (4-2, 2.76 ERA) this evening.

Santana has thrown 15 straight scoreless innings and has a 0.74 ERA over his last five starts and his teammates are thriving at Citi Field. The Mets are 23-9 at home and are riding their second nine-game winning streak in the Big Apple. New York is 7-0 at home after three or more consecutive wins this season and is a -150 ML favorite. Santana is his career is 104-33 as a favorite of -150 or more. (Team's Record) San Diego will attempt to counter and is 9-3 after four or more consecutive road games in 2010.

L.A. Angels at Oakland 10:05 E

Though it seldom gets much play nationally, the Angels (32-29, +2.2) and Athletics (31-29, +3.7) is one of the more heated division rivalries in baseball. The teams have split the first two of a four game series and Oakland will attempt to retake second place on the AL West behind Dallas Braden (4-5, 3.77), who hasn’t won since tossing a perfect game on Mother’s Day. Braden is 0-3 with a 4.45 ERA since May 9th; however oddsmakers still have the left-hander and the A’s as -128 favorites. Braden is 5-13 (-12.1 Units) against the ML as a home favorite of -110 or higher. (A's Record)

The Halos had their six-game winning stopped last night with 10-1 thumping and hand the ball to Joe Saunders (4-6, 4.78), who could be spokesperson for a yoyo company with his up and down performances. Saunders and the Angels are 13-4 in road tests vs. AL teams scoring 4.7 or less runs a game since 2008 and the port-sider is 10-4 vs. his rival. Even with last night’s loss, the Angels are 14-6 at McAfee Coliseum the past three seasons.

St. Louis at L.A. Dodgers 10:10 E

Manager Tony LaRussa tried to play the percentages, essentially giving away the first game of the series in Los Angeles with his pitching choices and coming back with Chris Carpenter and Adam Wainwright (8-3, 2.05 ERA) the next two games. His plan was foiled as Hiroki Kuroda and two relievers combined for a six-hitter in the Dodgers 1-0 shutout victory. St. Louis (33-26, -5) hasn’t been great this year, however they have avoided long losing streaks, but our in danger of losing four in a row for the first time since June 5-9, 2009.

Having Wainwright to pitch will be a big plus, as he is 3-1 with a 1.20 ERA and 36 strikeouts in 30 innings over his last four overall outings and has a 1.23 ERA in three starts against the Dodgers (35-24, +4.8). With the Cardinals a -105 betting option, they and Wainwright are 14-3 when the money line is +125 to -125 over the last two seasons.

The Blue Crew is in the midst of its longest homestand of the year (13 games) and have won seven of first nine and they own the finest record in the big leagues since May 9 at 22-7. Clayton Kershaw (5-3, 3.06) toes the rubber for L.A., with his club 37-15 at Dodger Stadium with a money line of -100 to -150 since last year.

Monday Mania

Took a slight misstep at 1-2 and will attempt to correct that immediately starting with a perfect trend in one of the AL West battles. The Best System is 82.7 percent and Mike of the LCC has what he believes is NL winner! Good Luck

What I thought today – The referees are ruining the NBA playoffs while enhancing those in the NHL. (See tomorrow’s article for more details)

On Twitter at: http://twitter.com/3Dailywinners

Free Baseball System -1) Play Against home underdogs with a money line of +100 or higher like Cleveland, averaging less than a home run per game, against a starting pitcher who gives up 0.5 or less HR's/start, with an AL starting pitcher whose WHIP is 1.300 to 1.400 on the season. Boston certainly appears the play backed with system that is 43-9, 82.7 percent.

Free Baseball Trend -2) The Angels are 11-0 after accumulating 17 or more base hits.

Free Baseball Pick -3) Mike went 9-3 over the weekend in all sports and has the Reds as his top play tonight.

Sunday Stuff

Another 2-1 Saturday takes us to 69-34 and we have a MLB system similar to yesterday with a slightly different twist that is 87.3 percent. The Top Trend yields two from the same game and is 25-1. Mr. Buck has hit a nice stretch and hopes to sail along with another winner today. Good Luck

What I thought today – As soon as Kendry Morales broke the bone in his leg jumping on home plate in freak accident, everyone assumed the Angles would fly away and not be contender. Instead they have won six of seven as other players are stepping up offensively. I acknowledge playing the M’s and Royals helps.

On Twitter at: http://twitter.com/3Dailywinners

Free Baseball System -1) Play Against underdogs with a money line of +175 to +250 like Arizona, with an on-base percentage of .310 or worse over their last 20 games, against opponent with a ridiculous starting pitcher whose WHIP is 1.000 or less over his last five starts. In the last 63 times this system has come up in the last five years, 55 have been winners.

Free Baseball Trend -2) Boston is 12-0 after four or more consecutive Over’s and Baltimore is 1-13 after scoring two runs or less two straight games this season.

Free Baseball Pick -3) Though I continue to do well with 2-1 day, I missed my play here yesterday and in moves Paul Buck who is on steaming 10-2 run. He’s on the Mariners to salvage one game in their series.

Let's follow MLB Trendy Talk

Baseball like any sport is about how teams matchup. Often, little secrets emerge when two teams face off and they can be frequently found in baseball trends. Those participating in sports betting can grab an edge they might otherwise not have with a couple of key points about any given contest on a typical slate of 15 games. Take the time to peruse baseball’s top trends for tonight.

In the National League the Cincinnati Reds host Pittsburgh being tied with the St. Louis atop the Central Division. The Reds are a -170 money line favorite at sportsbooks and have feasted on rotten teams. Cincy is 12-2 playing against a bad club with 38-46 win percentage and is 11-2 if a NL team has an on-base percentage .315 or worse this season.

Philadelphia visits the New York Mets and is 10-2 on the road after seven or more consecutive home games the last three seasons. Tonight, the Phillies starter is Jamie Moyer and he and the Phils are 14-3 in road encounters against division opponents since 2008.

Atlanta heads to south Florida with the total at nine. This might be setting up as Under play since the Braves are 14-3 UNDER in road games when playing with a day off over the last three years and Florida starter Anibal Sanchez is 11-1 UNDER when the ML is +125 to -125.

The Houston at Milwaukee matchup is like picking your own poison. The Brewers are 4-14 at Miller Park and 2-7 as a home favorite of -110 or higher this season. The Astros on the other hand are 15-29 and 7-21 coming of a loss. Houston will start Felipe Paulino who is 0-6 this year and he and the ‘Stros are 2-15 as an underdog of +100 or higher over the last two seasons.

Over in the American League, two scuffling Central Division partners do battle in Cleveland. The Chicago White Sox are underachieving 19-25 and cannot formulate any momentum with 4-14 record after a win in 2010. The Indians have hitting and pitching woes are 4-17 after scoring four runs or less in five straight games since 2008. The Pale Hose are -132 ML favorites because of starter Jake Peavy.

Oakland has won three in a row and five of seven to climb back over .500 at 23-22 and has owned Baltimore with 13-2 mark. The A’s are -111 ML road faves behind Dallas “Mr. Perfect” Braden; however an inkling of doubt arises. The Athletics are feeble 0-13 in road games vs. an AL starting pitcher whose WHIP is 1.100 or better.

Minnesota like a lot of AL clubs has problems with the New York Yankees. The Twins are 5-18 vs. New York and 4-7 at home the last couple of years. The simplest explanation is 16-32 record vs. an AL team with an on-base percentage of .345 or better. Minnesota will try to change their luck in new Target Field against the Bronx Bombers, but are 12-30 versus AL squads scoring 5.2 or more runs a game.

The Toronto Blue Jays continue to mash, leading baseball with 76 dingers and are 12-4 in road encounters when playing against a team with a losing record after last night’s impressive 6-0 white-washing of the L.A. Angels. The Halos are presently listed as a Pick with a great deal of line movement. This evening they give the ball to Ervin Santana who is 22-8 throwing at the Big A vs. teams outscoring opponents by 0.5 or more runs game. (Team's Record)

Interleague Baseball is Back

Can you hear the whining already, “I hate interleague play” or “Why do they play these games, nobody cares except for a few series anyways”. Of course most people complaining are either baseball purists who want every starting pitcher to throw nine innings and games to last just over two hours “just like the old days” or online sport betting fanatics who for some reason believe the game is somehow completely different.

Here’s a newsflash, you still have to outscore the other team and you have 27 outs to do so. And if you want to win your wagers, bet the American League until further notice.

The first regular season interleague game was in Texas in June 12, 1997 when San Francisco played the Rangers. The Giants defeated Texas 4-3 (with Darren Oliver the Rangers starting pitcher and he’s back with them this season as reliever) and it’s been all downhill for the National League.

In the previous 13 seasons, the AL has won the season series nine times compared to four for the NL and those from the junior circuit have won the last six in a row, proving their dominance.

The National League actually narrowed the gap last season with 114-138 record, which was better than 2008 when they were 103-149. Where everyone started to take notice of the disparity between the two leagues was 2006. After the AL had won the two previous years 262-241, they hammered the NL 154-98.

National League apologists will blame the designated hitter, more favorable matchups for their counterparts or the weather, but the fact remains over the last six years they are 671-840, .440 win percentage. The answer why for this Grand Canyon-like difference, better organizations in the American League. The top teams have advanced scouting techniques, draft players that fit particular organizations and continually seek improvement.

Top Wednesday Baseball Systems

The second part of swing week continues with all 30 MLB teams moving on to play new opponents for the next two days. Upon doing research we find different teams in advantageous positions this Wednesday on the money line and online sports betting enthusiasts also will have an outstanding totals play to consider.

Chic. Cubs at Philadelphia 7:05E

The Phillies might not have had Chase Utley in the lineup the last few days, but they still lead the National League in runs scored at 5.6 per game and maintain a .278 team batting average. Philadelphia will face the Cubs this evening and their hard luck starter Tom Gorzelanny (1-4, 3.60 ERA), who had permitted three or less runs in his first six starts of 2010, before having his worst outing the last time out against his old team Pittsburgh and was cuffed around for five runs, nine hits in five innings of work.

The Phillies are -145 money line home favorites and teams that bat last with the ML between -100 to -150, with a team batting average of .275 or higher, taking on NL starting pitcher with ERA of 3.70 or less in the first half of the season are 33-7 since 2006.

Cincinnati at Atlanta 7:10 E

The Reds continue to be in first place in the NL Central with yesterday’s dramatic 5-4 come from behind win over Milwaukee in which they tallied three runs in the bottom of the ninth inning to pull it out.

“Down 4-2 in the last inning against arguably the greatest closer of all-time, and to come back to win?” Joey Votto said after driving in the game winner off of Trevor Hoffman. “I think that says a lot. I think the guys always feel like we have a good shot.”

Cincinnati has won four straight and eight of nine, even though they have bullpen ERA of 4.82. Aaron Harang (2-5, 6.02) and his pitching foe Kenshin Kawakami (0-6, 5.79) have struggled mightily in 2010. Harang has at least notched a couple of wins but Kawakami has not registered a victory since August 31, 2009. He’s allowed 43 hits in 37.1 innings and been tagged for six home runs.

Nonetheless, the Reds are +125 dogs and road teams with the between money line +125 to -125, with a mediocre bullpen whose WHIP is 1.450 to 1.550 on the season, against opponent with a starting pitcher who is winless after five or more starts are 10-39.

L.A. Angels at Chic. White Sox 8:10E

The White Sox have not won back to back games since sweeping home series against Seattle back on April 23-25, will have eighth attempt to change their luck. Chicago will have their best and most consistent hurler John Danks (3-2, 2.25, 1.125 WHIP) on the mound.

They will face Joe Saunders (2-5, 4.96, 1.566) who was having a terrible year before putting it all together in complete game four-hit shutout over Oakland in his previous start. The Pale Hose are a -150 money line wager and home teams with an AL starting pitcher whose WHIP is 1.200 or better on the season facing his mound counterpart whose WHIP is 1.500 to 1.600, are 47-14 the last 13 seasons, including 19-2 the last five years.

Toronto at Seattle 10:10E

The Blue Jays concluded a 4-1 homestand in impressive fashion trouncing the Twins 11-2 yesterday, behind four home runs taking their Major League total to 65. The long ball is what is keeping the Blue Jays on the positive side of .500, since they have a mediocre team batting average of .244.

Toronto makes a West Coast swing beginning in Seattle at spacious Safeco Field. Online sports betting patrons should look at the total of Un7.5, as AL road clubs with BA of .255 or worse on the season after a win by six runs or more are 44-15 UNDER the last five years.

All systems from the Foxsheets.

Swing Week starts the MLB action

This is the only week of the Major League baseball season that players truly hate. It’s referred to as “swing week” because every team will play 2 two-game series this week before the weekend. The purpose is to balance out the schedule since the two leagues have differing amount of teams, which forces uncommon numbers to make 162-game slate work out. This used to be done later in the year, but the clubs worked with the schedule-maker to get it out of the way sooner in the year.

In the National League, a couple of teams from the Keystone State will meet for a pair. Philadelphia (23-13, +5.1 units) returns home off a 4-1 road trip which included sweeping the Brewers in Milwaukee. The Phillies are 11-3 this month and four games clear in the NL East of competitors. The always potent Philly batting order is now the best in the National League at 5.6 runs per game, but improved all around pitching has lit this candle for them.

Pittsburgh at 16-21 (+4.9) isn’t terrible (at least not yet), nor are they particularly good. The Pirates problem is offense, ranked next to last in scoring at 3.5 runs per contest and 14th in home runs with 29 in the senior circuit.

Philadelphia is a -220 money line favorite having to face Charlie Morton (1-6, 9.19 ERA). Even with a couple of surprising wins at Wrigley Field the past three days, Pittsburgh is still 29-70 as a road underdog of +100 or higher.

As we head down the hill for May, having Atlanta and the New York Mets holding down the last two spots in the NL East is as surprising the Flyers and Canadiens in the East Finals in the NHL. The Mets (18-20, -3.6) fall is particularly appalling since they were in first place in the division not that long ago, however a 4-12 road record will do that to a team.

The Braves (18-19, -3.8) haven’t been very good on the road either, which is why they have to take advantage of this situation at Turner Field. Atlanta caught Milwaukee at the right time and swept them, took series over pitching-poor Arizona and host Mets who have lost five in a row. Thanks to Tim Hudson yesterday, the Braves are 17-4 with a rested bullpen that pitched one inning or less in last game and they are -144 ML home favorites tonight.

In the American League, Toronto (23-16, +10.5) prepares to face first place Minnesota. A great deal of verbile could be used to describe the Blue Jays in 2010. Toronto has won 11 of 14 after sweeping another club atop their division in Texas. The Jays lead the AL in home runs with 60, slugging percentage (.459) and total bases (612). They will face Kevin Slowey (4-3, 4.62 ERA) of the Twins and Toronto is 20-11 against right-hand pitchers, averaging 5.8 runs per contest.

The Twins (23-14, +4.5) finally ended their 12-game road losing streak against the Yankees in dramatic fashion with Jason Kubel’s grand slam home run off Mariano Rivera on Sunday. However, the Blue Jays are also tough on Minnesota with 11-3 mark the last couple of years. The Twinkies are -115 ML choice and are 12-2 when favored by -150 or less this season.

If the Rangers (20-18, -0.6) are feeling a little uneasy being in first place in the AL West it’s understandable. After being swept north of the border, they return to Rangers Ballpark and hear the unmistakable rumble of the Angels chasing them. With Texas having lost last three, Los Angeles (18-21, -4.2) won a trio at home over Oakland, bringing them back to within 2.5 games in the division.

Texas is back home where they are 13-7 this season. The Rangers mission for this two-game set is to get into L.A.’s redoubtable bullpen that carries 6.38 ERA (2.118 WHIP) away from home. The Rangers are 24-8 vs. a poor pen whose WHIP is 1.550 or worse. The Angels finally got great pitching over the weekend in permitting three total runs to the A’s and had two shutouts.

“We’re only going to go as far as our starters are going to perform,” manager Mike Scioscia said. “If this weekend is any indication, hopefully we’re starting to make some strides forward.”

Inconsistent Scott Kazmir (2-3, 6.82) is the Halos starter and his club is a +140 ML underdog, yet is 14-3 after consecutive wins by four runs or more.

Wednesday's Top Action

Tuesday’s results were 1-1, not the stuff of legends but 36-20, 64.2 percent isn’t too bad. SR was correct with his Free Play and looks in the same exact direction for the next one. The Top Trend shows the Brew Crew in an uncomfortable situation. The Best System is an AL Central showdown at 83.7 percent. Good Luck

What I did today- In afternoon MLB action, I took the Reds and Twinkies. If you would like to receive my free plays on regular basis, sign up to the right.

On Twitter at: http://twitter.com/3Dailywinners

Free Baseball System -1) Play Against road underdogs like the White Sox with a money line of +125 to +175, a meager AL team batting average of .260 or less, against a team with a good bullpen (ERA <=3.75), with a starting pitcher whose gives up a home run once every other start. This system clocks in at 83.7 percent, 41-8.

Free Baseball Trend -2) The Milwaukee Brewers are 1-11 revenging a home loss vs opponent of six runs or more over the last two seasons.

Free Baseball Pick -3) Slick Rick is 9-1 the last three days and expects the Rays again to shine over Halos.

It's Cinco de Mayo - Stay thirsty my friends

Oh yea, that more like it, two for Tuesday. For Cinco de Mayo (wearing my new Los Suns jersey) have an MLB Super System that is 84.1 percent. The Top Trend is beauty and Paul Buck will have Free Pick before you know it, like right now. Good Luck

What I’m thinking today- Hey Atlanta, just a heads up. The second round of the playoffs has started. Yea, I know you are a bit tuckered out from seven games against inferior Milwaukee team and it would have been nice to take nap every day with your favorite blanket like Orlando did after sweeping the Jordan’s.

Well I checked with the NBA and everyone on your team gets a merit badge for attending Game 1. Oh sure you lost by 43, it happens. Don’t worry about shooting 34.6 percent, at least Josh Smith was 7-14 and he got a lollipop from the trainer for doing his best like a good boy.

For your next game against the Magic, I like to make one small suggestion, when the coach yells “Box out” that means you get in front of you man, not stand behind him and get out-rebounded by 18.

So you Hawks, you get ready to do your best and don’t worry about the outcome, because the most important things in life is trying hard and updating your Twitter and Facebook accounts.

Free Baseball System -1) Play Against road underdogs like the Halos with a money line of +100 to +150, being an AL team with a low on-base percentage of .320 or worse, against a team with a good bullpen (WHIP of 1.350 or less), with a scary bad bullpen whose WHIP is 1.550 or worse on the season. Over the last five seasons this systems calculates at 37-7.

Free Baseball Trend -2) The Houston Astros are 1-12 off consecutive losses.

Free Basketball Pick -3) Paul Buck is on the Chicago Cubs in the Steel City.

Baseball Systems that are a home run

It’s the first full week of May baseball action and on this Tuesday a number of high quality baseball systems standout. A number of underdogs are really up against solid situations that in the past have been very profitable by playing against them. Will this happen again, read on and make your own decisions.

Baltimore at N.Y. Yankees 7:05E

The Orioles swept Boston over the weekend, but reality came calling in the form of Yankee pinstripes, ending Baltimore’s brief euphoria. The O’s are 10th in the American League in batting at .246 and they will face A.J. Burnett (3-0, 2.43 ERA) as +220 money line underdogs. Here we find road underdogs of +150 or more, batting .260 or less against a good AL starting pitcher (ERA <=4.20) , with a starting hurler that gives up 0.5 or less home runs a start are unbecoming 18-84 since 1997.

N.Y. Mets at Cincinnati 7:10E

The Mets have lost three in a row after their eight game winning streak was snapped and are +130 road dogs in the Queen City. Other than last night, the starting pitchers have been roughed up forcing a top notch New York bullpen (2.60 ERA) to start piling up the innings. Surprisingly, underdogs with ML of +100 to +150, with an excellent bullpen whose ERA is 3.00 or better on the season, having worked three straight games throwing four or more innings, are 30-9.

L.A. Angels at Boston 7:10E

The Angels of Anaheim are having serious pitching problems. Among their 15 losses on the year, nine have been by four runs or more, including last night’s 17-8 pasting to the Red Sox, their fourth consecutive road loss. The Halos are +175 dogs and non-favorites being outscored by 0.5 or more runs a game on the season after allowing 15 runs or more are alarming 7-39.

Detroit at Minnesota 8:10E

Joe Mauer might be out of the line-up, yet Minnesota keeps punching the ball around the yard and is second in the AL in batting average (.279) and third in runs scored at 5.4 per contest. In game two of their series with division rival Detroit, the Twins are -135 favorites and home chalk of -125 to -175, batting .290 or better over their last 20 games in May, are sharp 43-10 since 2006.

Colorado at San Diego 10:05E

The Rockies got a much needed win last night in San Diego. Colorado’s pitching staff has been ravaged by injuries. Though the bullpen has a fine 2.48 ERA, they are three of six in save opportunities.

Colorado acquired Greg Smith to be a left-handed starter and thus far his results are atrocious with 7.33 ERA. The Rockies have lost Smith’s last three outings since he has performed even worse with 9.53 ERA and bloated WHIP of 2.471.

Colorado might be catching +135 on the ML, however road underdogs of +100 to +150 with a bad bullpen that blows 38 percent or more of their save opportunities, using a nasty starting pitcher whose WHIP is 2.250 or higher over his last three starts are 7-33, 17.5 percent the previous five seasons.

The baseball train keeps chuggin'

The schedule might appear lighter in baseball action with just eight games on the board; however that doesn’t mean opportunity doesn’t exist. We went thru and isolated four specific MLB systems that are thought provoking and should have a well above average chance of being profitable to start another week of baseball betting. Sides and totals from DiamondSportsbook.com.

St. Louis at Arizona 9:40E

The Cardinals are already in first place in the NL Central, where they are expected to end up at the end of the season. You can’t blame St. Louis if they a trifle fatigued off 20-inning game Saturday and a tense come from behind effort 5-3 win over the New York Mets last evening.

St. Louis has left 32 men on base the last two contests (22 in the marathon) and are a -129 money line favorite in the desert against angry Arizona club that was swept by San Diego and has lost four in a row.

Here we look to Play Against road teams with a money line of -100 to -150 after two straight games where they stranded 10 or more runners on base, in the first half of the season. These teams are unsightly 12-33, 27.7 percent.

San Francisco at San Diego 10:05E

Even after losing series to the Dodgers, San Francisco maintained lead in the NL West with 8-4 record. The Giants continue their road trip further south down the California coast to San Diego.

The oddsmaker looked at the Matt Cain vs Clayton Richard matchup and studied two good bullpens and hung out an Un7 on this confrontation. With this setup, we found a 52-19 system that suggests to Play Over on road teams when the total is 7 to 8.5, after a loss, on a club with a winning percentage of 62% or better on the season.

Detroit at L.A. Angels 10:05E

Last week was not a good for Detroit, dropping two series and losing four of six games. Like many teams this time of year, the Tigers are attempting to put together a consistent bullpen and though the ERA of 3.21 appears more than adequate, too many runners are scoring in hold situations and they have surrendered 64 hits and walks (44-H, 20-W) in 42 innings, for WHIP of 1.524.

In the last three seasons, road clubs with bullpen WHIP between 1.450 to 1.550 on the year, who are a good fielding team, turning 1.1 or more double plays per game are 33-74.

Baltimore at Seattle 10:10E

There had to be a general sense of relief in Baltimore dugout as they ended their nine-game losing streak in being victorious for the just the second time this season yesterday in 8-3 triumph over Oakland.

Even with the offensive outburst, the Orioles are batting puny .234 as a team, with on-base percentage of .292, while scoring 3.2 runs per game.

Seattle’s return to the state of Washington has boosted their play, with two series victories. The pitching has been the difference and the bullpen has sharp with 3.29 ERA on the year (1.17 ERA at Safeco Park). The Mariners are a -148 money line favorite with total Ov8. Keep in mind, American League teams hitting less than .260, facing a bullpen with ERA under 3.33, on Monday’s, are 39-14 UNDER the last 13 years.

Joe West, I love you man

I’ll check the “Yes” box for what umpire Joe West said about the Yankees and Red Sox games taking WAY too long.

Last season the average game lasted 2:54 minutes and unquestionably television has played a role in games being longer with breaks between half-innings for commercials at 2 minutes, 5 seconds or 2 minutes, 25 seconds for nationally televised games.

The three games played in Boston lasted 3:46, 3:48 and 3:21.

Bud the commish has been trying the last couple of seasons to get umpires to pick up the pace and word has filtered to every MLB team about moving the game along. Two teams that have ignored this edict are the Yankees and Red Sox. Though I have no ill feelings towards either, I’ve read material about both teams choosing to ignore what they are being asked to do. Why, well there can be only one reason, they believe they are above the game.

A 2-1 or 3-1 contest should never take three hours to play but this is common today. Batters have to adjust everything on their person after every pitch. Though managers can only make two trips to the mound, they instead send any of the infielders or catcher to talk to pitcher as soon as anyone is on-base and those conversations typically are 5 to 10 seconds and a normal game has 10 of those, which creates more dead time.

I’ve heard TV and radio types say New York and Boston don’t give away at-bats like other teams. They work the count longer and fight for every pitch in order to win.

Oh I see, than these are the only two teams that care about winning is their logic. Philadelphia, St. Louis, Colorado, the Dodgers, Tampa Bay and the Angels to name a few are all out there for the exercise and lack the same dedication to winning as the two AL East giants. Please!!!!

If you would happen to turn on ESPN Classic and an old baseball game was being shown before 1990, you would be amazed at the pace of the game. The pitcher gets the sign, the batter gets the pitch and if it is a ball or strike, this sequence is immediately repeated again, without the batter ever leaving the box.

If someone is really to be blamed it should be Mike Hargrove, former big league manager and player, who was known as “the human rain delay” for setting the tone for what most players do today, stepping out the box after every pitch.

So if the umpires don’t want to grant the batter’s time or if they hurry out to the mound to break up yet another conference, count me among those in favor. I prefer baseball to any other sport because I’m a student of the game, not just a fan. We lost a whole generation of fans because the game became too dull with all the dead time.

The NFL found a way to speed up their game, even if just slightly and I have no problem with a long game if the score is 8-7 or 10-9.

If you don’t believe this is an issue, than answer this for me, why has baseball enjoyed record attendance the last several years, yet the crown jewel, the World Series, has been hovering around record low levels?

Baseball has become social entertainment, not must see TV, which to me is a condemnation on the sport and steps must be taken to improve the product, which includes having it move along.

I’d love to hear your opinions.

AL West squads search for split to start the season

It’s an odd sight to see Major League baseball teams to open the year playing a four game series. Most start with one game, have potential rain date and continue series that adds up to three contests. One advantage that can be typically counted on is playing baseball in California, where weather is seldom an issue, thus sites Oakland and Anaheim are the perfect places to start with a four game series if needed.

This season Seattle and Los Angeles are considered prime rivals for the American League West crown and each has lost two of three to start a new campaign and each needs a victory today to gain a split to begin the year.

Sleepless in Seattle

The Mariners made several off-season moves designed to close the gap between themselves and the Angels. Though one-run wins or losses are considered random events by baseball math experts, since they are changeable from year to year for every team, that doesn’t make them any easier to swallow.

Seattle after winning the first contest over division partner Oakland, has lost 2-1 and 6-5 the last two evenings, with the latter blowing a lead late in the game.

The M’s will turn to Doug Fister for the first time in 2010. As a rookie, he was 3-4 with a 4.13 ERA in 11 games, 10 which of he was a starter. Fister is a big man at 6’8, but is not overpowering, being more a pitch to contact hurler. Look for Oakland to load up with as many left-handed bats as they can against the right-hander, since he surrendered a home run every 15 at bats against them in 2009. Seattle failed to win in Fister’s last four road starts.

Oakland counters with one of their young studs, 22-year old Brett Anderson. The lefty set an Oakland rookie record with 150 strikeouts and led the team in both strikeouts and wins with 11. He was roughed up a bit in the spring, but part of that was trying to add a changeup into his pitching arsenal. Dating back to last season, the A’s are 9-3 off a win.

For this 3:35 Eastern matinee, Bookmaker.com has Oakland as -160 money line favorite with total Ov8, however the Athletics are 6-17 at home having won two of their last three games and are 6-1 OVER in Game Four of a series.

Seattle will look to balance the win/loss ledger, but are 9-23 as road underdog of +150 or less and 2-7 vs. left-handed starters. The Mariners are 29-15 UNDER in day games.

Angels need a prayer

Los Angeles has lost Chone Figgins and Vladimir Guerrero from their everyday lineup and while it is way too early to make judgment call, the Angels have dropped last two contests to the Twins, totaling five runs.

The Angels hope the bats awaken against Minnesota starter Kevin Slowey, whose fastball is in the 88-89 range, which he throws easily on both sides of the plate. He mixes in a tight curveball and late-breaking slider. L.A. will look to attack early, since they are 41-15 in double revenge situations.

The Halos will have two different debuts Thursday at 10:05 Eastern, Hideki Matsui in leftfield for the first time since June 15, 2008 and Joel Pineiro making his initial start with Angels cap.

"Every first start of every year is exciting," Pineiro said. "You want to get out there and get that first one out of the way and get in the normal rotation. It's just a matter of executing, hitting your spots and making your pitches. You've got to get ahead in the count and expand from there. I want to attack their weaknesses with my strengths.

That might be easier said than done for Pineiro, who is 2-6 with a 4.32 ERA against Minnesota, facing players that are dialed in.

Justin Morneau and J.J. Hardy are coming off long balls in back to back games, leading a Twins club that is 14-5 following a victory. Minnesota is a +115 road dog and has won six of seven outright when at +110 to +150 price.

L.A. is the favorite for a fourth time in the series and despite a pair of defeats is 9-3 as home fave. Normally the Big A is a positive place for the Angels when the Twins visit, sporting a 24-11 record.

Wednesday Wrap-up

When we last convened for plays it was a 3-0 Saturday, so let’s try and match it. The Best System is exceptional 87.1 percent, but read further because it comes with a caveat. The Top Trend is the ever popular reverse perfect in the NBA. My friend Slick Rick is making money like the airlines charging for bags and has MLB selection.

What I thought yesterday- Loved the joke about Tiger Woods having extra protection at Augusta and it showed two tanks, I think it was on Jay Leno.

Free Basketball System -1) Play On road teams like Golden State scoring 103 or more points a game on the season, after trailing in their previous game by 20 or more points at the half. This electric system is 27-4 ATS, 87.1 percent, just be careful of all the Warriors injuries.

Free Basketball Trend -2) The Dallas Mavericks are 0-12 ATS at home versus teams averaging 20 or less assists a game this season.

Free Baseball Pick -3) Slick Rick is nailing over 68 percent of his plays the last 18 days and is on the Halos this evening.
