Tuesday's Top Tips

Got clipped for 1-2 day as the LCC members took it in the shorts on West Virginia. Kyle didn’t play that contest and has enjoyed a terrific season and gives out his top play for Free. The Top Trend is in the NBA following a Southeast Division teams and the Best System is a Super Tuesday tilt at 26-5 ATS. Good Luck

What I found today- (As of 11:30 MST) Let’s be honest, last night’s biggest Monday was a big disappointment for viewers, unless you had Villanova and Kansas. Let’s hope that Super Tuesday has more to offer. College basketball bettors are jumping all over Wisconsin at home against Illinois squad off emotional win over Michigan State Saturday night, moving them from opening -7 to -9.5.

Wake Forest is receiving almost the same treatment, being taken from -4 to -6 at home, however Boston College forward Joe Trapani is doubtful.

College hoops bettors also see two totals going higher than opening numbers. The MAC matchup of Akron and Central Michigan has risen from 128 to 130.5 and in the battle of saints; St. Louis and St. Joseph opened at 126.5 and is now 129.

The NBA is relatively quiet, with Memphis moving from one-point home favorite to underdog; however that could well be a Pick by tipoff.

Much more action on the totals side in the NBA, with the Jazz and Clippers pounded hard on the overnight line, taken from 198.5 to 201 this morning and still trending upward to 202. Though many angles support Chicago and Indiana falling below the number, this total has gone from 202 to 205 with heavy wagering. Lastly, Sac-Town and New York began at 212.5 and resides three points higher at present.

Vancouver in the midst of unreal 14 consecutive road games because of the Olympics and are a -145 money line road choice after opening at -130 against Tampa Bay.

Free Basketball System -1) Play On home teams as a favorite or pick like Vanderbilt off an upset loss by 10 points or more as a favorite against opponent off a home blowout win by 20 points or more. Since 2005 this hoops system is 26-5 ATS, 83.9 percent.

Free Basketball Trend - 2) The Washington Loaded Guns are 2-13 ATS in a road game where the total is between 185 and 189.5 points over the last three seasons losing by better than 15 points per game.

Free Basketball Pick -3) Kyle building a nice bankroll in college hoops, 58.7 percent for the season, up over 175 units and likes Colorado State in the MWC.

The Detroit Pistons –WTF Happened?

It was just over two decades ago the “Bad Boys” ruled the NBA. Isiah Thomas, Bill Laimbeer, Ric Mahorn, Vinnie “ The Microwave” Johnson, John Salley, Dennis Rodman and a quiet unassuming Joe Dumars. They were led by coach Chuck Daly and won back to back NBA titles in 1989-90. The rest of the 90’s were spent tearing down an aging club and it wasn’t until Dumars was hired as the team's president of basketball operations, that fortunes started to return to past glory.

Dumars, through wise drafting, assembled a talented squad and found the right coach in Larry Brown to lead them to another championship in 2004 and they lost in the Finals to San Antonio in 2005.

Now this. After starting 11-12 in the subordinate Central Division, Detroit has lost 13 games in a row, which is one off the team record of a double baker’s dozen. Productive scorers Richard Hamilton, Tayshaun Prince and Ben Gordon have all missed time during the skid, leaving Detroit’s offense sputtering.

The Pistons are like a four year car that has never had an oil change. In losing this many games in a row, not once have they broken 100 points. Detroit’s average loss has been a dastardly 14.4 points per game, low-lighted by losing at Chicago last night by 33. This streak is even leaving New Jersey players wondering what is going on in MoTown. Oddsmakers appear to be equally as stunned not being able to find the right number on these misfiring Pistons, having covered one time during this horrendous stretch.

“You’re not going to get confidence from fooling yourself or trying to psyche up your ego,” Gordon said. “You’ve got to go out there and play basketball. That’s how you get your confidence right - by going out there every night, playing as hard as you can and playing the right way.”

With three road wins in 18 contests (7-10-1 ATS), help could be on the way, as Detroit travels to plays the Washington Bullets, whoops, Wizards. Despite brandishing guns in the locker room, Washington has not been all that tough with 12-23 record (13-21 ATS). Gilbert (Magnum Force) Arenas had a silencer put on gun collection by the NBA, being suspended indefinitely by the league for bringing guns to the Verizon Center and related incidents.

This leaves the Bullets (screwed up again) without their leading scorer. Unlike Detroit, Washington has scored over 100 points in their last two games, splitting the pair, however is 4-15 ATS after registering triple digits two or straight games over the last two seasons.

Bookmaker.com has made Washington 5.5-point favorites, with total of 197. This might be great news for Detroit since the Wizards are 6-18 ATS as a home favorite since last season. The Pistons confidence should be improved since they have won four in a row over Washington (3-1 ATS). Detroit is 8-1 OVER in road games versus offensive teams scoring 99 or more points a game this season, unfortunately, that is not a good thing, since they have lost by over 11 points an outing.

Lucky fans in these two cities can watch this encounter starting 7:00 Eastern and Pistons fans should take heart, since the all-time record for consecutive losses is actually 21, ending the 1979-80 season with 14 defeats and starting the next year with seven more.

Tuesday Betting Action, Thoughts and Suggestion

A bit of a downer with 1-2 day, about the only good thing you can say was both losses were very comfortable, as both losers were destroyed. The Top Trend was a winner and we have another perfect one in the NBA. Speaking of professional hoops, have a money line play as Best System, without having to lay heavy juice. The LCC has lined up decidedly behind one team in the CBI Tournament tonight. Good Luck.

I don’t want to hear Dicky V or anybody else whine there are too many college bowl games anymore. You probably didn’t even notice there are THREE other college postseason tournaments now besides the NCAA. The new CIT has nothing on the Motor City bowl.

For frequent readers, you know I don’t do much shilling for StatFox. In this case I want to, since their NCAA Tournament Betting Guide is really strong. (Click on link to learn more) Most every person from the Left Coast Connection has one and they are professional bettors. It’s your call but I think you will find worth the money if you want to win during the tournament.

Free Basketball System-1) PLAY AGAINST any team vs the money line off a close home win by three points or less, a terrible team (can you say the Clippers) with a win percentage of 25 percent or less, playing a team with a losing record like Golden State. This money line system is 24-3, 88.9 percent and action isn’t too heavy at -150 to go against the saddest NBA franchise by a long shot.

Free Basketball Trend -2) It’s a heavy price to pay for Utah, however, the Washington Wizards are about as successful as the Generals and are 0-11 ATS when playing against a team with a winning record in the second half of this season, losing by 17.4 points per game.

Free Basketball Selection -3) The Left Coast Connection is 100 percent unanimous (11-0) in their support of Wyoming tonight.

So You Think Coaching is Fun?

f your occupational haven is a sideline or bench where you instruct a gathering of professional playgrounders, it might be time to update your resume. More heads have rolled among the collection of NFL and NBA coaches over the last six weeks than the guillotine claimed during the French Revolution.

Okay maybe not that many, but an unprecedented total of 10 locker room leaders between the two leagues have felt the heavy, cold blade cast down upon their livelihoods.

The NBA terminations began on November 22, when the newly-spawned Oklahoma City Thunder fired its first fearless leader, P.J. Carlesimo, after starting the season with an abysmal 1-12 record. (Note- picture was taken when he was hired, you can tell by background, might have had same smile after leaving OKC mess)

Not to be outdone, the Washington Wizards quickly followed suit and dismissed their one-win coach, Eddie Jordan, just a few days later.

The firestorm would gain strength and continue its tumultuous tear through December, victimizing Sam Mitchell (Toronto), Randy Wittman (Minnesota), Maurice Cheeks (Philadelphia) and Reggie Theus (Sacramento).

We as sports fanatics cherish records and the discharging of six NBA coaches before Christmas provided us with another. Six pink slips through seven weeks were the most in league history and the mark is only three firings short of the season record, established during the 2004-05 campaign.

Of course NBA coaches aren’t as tenured as MLB or even NFL mentors, but the firing bug has not eluded the pigskin front offices with four footballers being ousted in the last couple of weeks.
The inevitable “you’ve had your chance, your time is up” reasoning fell on Romeo Crennel after following up a hopeful 10-6 Cleveland Browns year in 2008 with a measly four victories in 2009. Rod Marinelli didn’t have a prayer to keep his job after concluding a perfect 0-16 season with Detroit and becoming the laughingstock of the National Football League. Expect to see steady turnover inside the front office and locker room of the Lions in the coming months.

Eric Mangini was also relieved of his duties after three seasons with the New York Jets, but perhaps the most surprising move came rumbling through the Rocky Mountains of Denver.
After 14 seasons, two Super Bowl victories, 13 playoff appearances and a composite record of 146-91, head coach and vice president of operations Mike Shanahan was asked to collect his belongings.

That one was kind of a head-scratcher considering Marvin Lewis and Herm Edwards still have jobs, but I don’t make the million-dollar decisions.

I am simply here to offer my unscientific explanation for this firing phenomenon and it is summed up in one word…PANIC.

Everyone seems to be in a constant state of panic these days. I can’t trounce through a single day of my life without hearing dire news about the volatile stock market, the lack of job security, food inflation or gas prices.

This panic is undoubtedly a direct result of the economic plague engulfing our nation, and sports owners and general managers are not immune to it.

They envision empty stadium seats and vacant vendor lines so they become desperate.
If a team is stagnant, the ownership feels pressure to grab a hold of their fans quickly and firmly so why not alter the bench chemistry to rekindle interest and create a buzz? Drama sells and there is no better way to create drama than handing a leader his walking papers, just ask the Broncos.

I am not saying this is the only reason for the head coaching chaos. Front office feuds, dissatisfied players and inflated expectations are all constant and plausible explanations for this barrage of firings.

Economists have projected 2009 to be one of the most financially dismal years in decades and this foretelling doesn't exclude the sports we embrace. The NFL trimmed 150 jobs off its budget, the NBA digested 80 members of its entity, NASCAR teams are scaling down to the bare bones and the Arena Football League suspended operations after 22 years of existence which will toss thousands onto the unemployed heap.

As evidenced by the recent turmoil, head coaches are at the front of the firing line and may need to brace themselves because the guillotine could continue to lop heads at an alarming rate in 2009.

Tuesday's Best Bets

A great call by the LCC last night on Ohio State. I passed, since I preferred Texas and glad I did. In tonight’s GMAC bowl, they have a similar call. The Top Trend returns a with perfect 9-0 spot in college hoops. Today’s best System probably needs to be read twice to, but 83.9 percent winners is easy to comprehend. Good Luck.

Free Basketball System-1) PLAY ON underdogs of 10 or more points like Washington, after going under the total by 30 or more points total in their last three games against opponent after going under the total by 54 or more points total in their last ten games. The Wizards are catching 12.5 points and this system is 26-5 ATS, 83.9 percent over 13 seasons.

Free Basketball Trend -2) The New Mexico Lobos are 9-0 ATS after playing a game where both teams score 65 points or less over the last two seasons.

Free Football Selection -3) The members of the Left Coast Connection were all over Ohio State last night and they love Tulsa nearly as well at over 77 percent support.

Betting Info for Dec.11

Good to have 2-1 day, though that 3-0 has been elusive. Anyways, the Top Trend was winner and looks at one of the more obscure teams in college basketball betting and they are in perfect 10-0 situation. I have to say, I can only think of one time since September I questioned if the Best System would win, today’s another. It’s hard to argue with 22-3 ATS, I hope I’m wrong. No Free Play from Eric today, who does offer NBA opinion, however have numbers on tonight’s NFL contest. Good Luck.

Free Basketball System-1) PLAY ON road teams like the Bobcats, who are a poor offensive team (88-92 PPG) against a poor defensive team like Dallas (98-102 PPG), after allowing 105 points or more. The system has delivered the spread winner 22 of 25 times.

Free Basketball Trend -2) Weber State is 10-0 ATS when playing against a marginal winning team (Win Pct. 51% to 60%) over the last three seasons.

Free Selection -3) Eric of the Left Coast Connection gave us a solid winner, but doesn’t like anything that much and said he made a small wager on the Washington Wizards. The final tabulation on tonight’s NFL game from the LLC is Chicago-8 and New Orleans-6, with not one person playing the Total.

Pre-Thanksgiving Wagering Info and Insight

I guess a new coach is all the Washington Wizards needed in order to turn, of course the always stellar Golden State defense contributed, as our best system went down. The best trend baled us out for 1-1 day officially and we have another impressive Top Trend, this one on the ice. Our Top System play takes college basketball bettors to Hawaii, looking at the total and two teams playing one another both qualify for the same system that is 87.5 percent. Good Luck.

Patience can be a virtue if you can wait it out. I mentioned last week about not getting hooked by the hook on key numbers. Yesterday, Ball State was -10.5 and I liked them for a 2* play (see below how to get these plays), but was not going to put myself into position to lose by half point. Instead, I saw the a numbers of handicappers were giving out Western Michigan and waited until about an hour before kickoff to grab a -10. As it turns out I didn’t need it, but it was comforting knowing I had a push instead of loss on the right number.

Free Basketball System-1) PLAY UNDER on neutral court games, involving teams where the total is greater than or equal to 160 after scoring 75 points or more two straight games. This system is 28-4, 87.5 percent, including 4-0 this season. As luck would have it, Maui finalists Notre Dame and North Carolina both fit this system.

Free Hockey Trend -2) The San Jose Sharks are 11-1 on the money line at home this season and have defeated Chicago Blackhawks nine in a row.

Free Basketball Selection -3) This play is official, eight LLC members are on Purdue tonight.

Tuesday Wagering Options

Yesterday’s 2-1 record makes 3Daily Winners 7-2 the last three days, which is nice to see. We are not expecting these types of results all the time, especially with basketball coming more into focus, creating more volatility. All we ask is be patient, take it one day at a time and as we have shown the results will be there. The highly ranked Tennessee Vols are very difficult to beat at home as you can see in today’s Top Trend. Our Top System will summon strength from a lower region to play this NBA team, yet impossible to say a 95.2 percent play is a bad idea. Free Plays nothing special, with strong opinion offered. Good Luck.

Free Basketball System-1) PLAY ON any team like the Washington (Generals) Wizards after going under the total by more than six points in three consecutive games, who have a winning percentage of 25 percent or less on the season. This system is sumptuous 20-1 ATS. Holy _ _ _ _!

Free Basketball Trend -2) The Tennessee Vols are 16-2 ATS in home games after one or more consecutive wins over the last 2+ seasons.

Free Football Selection -3) Nobody is too crazy about tonight's card in any sports. Only six guys from the Left Coast Connection are betting NIU and Kent State, with the Huskies a 4-2 choice. A few like the Indiana Pacers in the NBA and the college basketball plays are all over the board. Myself, I like Florida State because they were favored by 17.5 at home to LaSalle last season and with both teams having similar players back, the Noles are just a three point play on the road, with typical swing about eight points.
